Prepare Him Room
So over the course of this past month our worship team has introduced in my opinion one of THE best Christmas songs ever written... "Prepare Him Room" by Sovereign Grace Music. It truly is the gospel story in song. If you haven't heard it yet, I would encourage you to search for it online. You won't be sorry!
The verse that really stands out to me most is this...
"Oh our hearts
As busy as Bethlehem.
Hear Him knock
Don't say there's no room in the inn"
And how busy we can be. I know over the course of this past month I am guilty of being consumed with the busyness of life. The demands of work have been overwhelming, there are last minute Christmas gifts that still need shopped for (not to mention the gifts that need wrapped), family parties to attend... oh yeah and the house still needs cleaned and I suppose laundry needs done as well.
As I was singing this song this morning, I couldn't help but think of the scripture in Revelation,
Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
This scripture is a call to fellowship with Jesus. He stands at the door of our hearts and knocks- not breaking and entering, but knocking. He's not going to barge in. He is patient and persistent with us but He allows us to decide whether or not to open up our lives to Him.
So as the to do lists pile up each and every day, let's stop and invite Him in. Let's prepare Him room. Let's let the King of glory enter in!
